The presentation will review the 4 R’s of anxiety management:
- Recognizing signs of stress & anxiety: participants will be able to identify physical, emotional & behavioral signs of stress and anxiety.
- Relaxation: participants will learn ways that the relaxation response is used to counter the stress/fight or flight response. This will include ways in that the brain reacts in response to stress and anxiety.
- Reassured Thinking: participants will learn how our thoughts impact our response to stress events and how to reframe alarming or self-critical thinking with reassured thinking to reduce stress.

I stumbled upon yoga many years ago as a way to balance my gym workouts and my running
hobby; I soon realized that many other areas of my life were feeling balanced as well,
especially my mental health. Yoga made such a profound impact on me that I wanted
to be able to share the practice and teachings with others! I became a registered
yoga instructor in 2008 and in 2022, I became a Certified Yoga Therapist. I have 3
grown children, a grandbaby and a super cool rescue tabby named T-cat.
I aim to lead a well-rounded, light-hearted yoga session that is fun, not intimidating,
and makes people feel great afterwards. I have a knack for offering modifications
for all levels so that students feel like they can participate fully and feel good
about their yoga practice. *(Please let Carrie Tucker know if there are any health
concerns that I should be made aware of so that I can plan ahead for any accommodations
needed.)
My classes typically include a gentle warm up with some low to moderate intensity
movement and stretching linked with breath (we can always dial this up or down based
on your preferences). This is followed by a calming, guided relaxation period called
savasana.
I look forward to seeing you on the mat!
Namaste, Alison
