Scholarships and Student Support
Thanks to the generosity of alumni, private citizens, and organizations, LSU Vet Med awards thousands of dollars in scholarships each year. We also recognize students for academic achievement and community involvement. Scholarships cover an array of criteria including academic excellence, academic or clinical interests, place of origin, financial need, and school and community activities.
An Awards Committee reviews the available scholarships each year and their respective criteria to determine the recipients. Scholarships for Years I-III students are awarded each spring (usually in April) at an Awards and Honors Banquet. Year IV student awards are recognized at commencement in May.

Student Support
There are also funds available to help students in emergencies. There is an LSU Vet Med Student Hardship Support Fund, which is managed by the Office of Student Success. Current DVM students can obtain information on the fund from that office.
There is also a university-wide student fund, called the LSU Student Emergency Support Fund, which is available to LSU Vet Med students.
