Hands-on Learning
Participants learn about real geology research being done from LSU geologists and geology students.
Students in grades 7 and 8 are invited to apply for Geaux Science Explorations: Our Earth, Our Laboratory — a day of fun earth science activities led by some of LSU's top geologists!
Learn how to identify rock and mineral samples, view rocks and minerals under microscopes and ultraviolet light, lunch and chat with LSU scientists and students, and explore our geology research labs.
Who's eligible to participate? Students in 7th and 8th grade with an interest in science.
Date: April 12, 2025
Time: 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Location: LSU Howe-Russell Geoscience Complex (corner of Tower Dr. and South Campus Dr.)
How do you apply? Complete the 2025 Our Earth, Our Laboratory application form linked below. The application requires an essay, a parent authorization form, and a photography and social media release form that must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian.
