Glass Breakage

Glass breakage claims arise when damage of property primarily an LSU Department or third party automobile window is caused directly by negligent acts or omission of precautionary procedures. For LSU Departments, in order to file a claim, the damage must meet the $1,000 deductible. All Departments are responsible for costs under the $1,000 deductible. If damage is under the deductible, LSU Departments may contact the State contracted vendor, Safelite, to replace the glass or you can seek authorization through Risk Management. For third parties, the Office of Risk Management will investigate the cause of the glass damage to determine liability before issuing authorization to cover damages. Once your claim information is received, LSU Risk Management will contact you with the claim number and the name and number of the glass vendor if your claim is approved.  LSU Departments may choose to have the glass repaired/replaced with no out of pocket cost through a state glass vendor. Third parties may choose to have the glass repaired/replaced using your personal insurance or a glass vendor of your choice at your expense.  Please provide proof of payment for any out of pocket expenses and we will submit to our insurance carrier for investigation.
