Biography

Was born in 1978 in Medellin (Colombia). Engineer, MSc in Earth Sciences. She has a diploma in Didactics of Children's and Youth Literature from the San Buenaventura University, a diploma in Library Management from the Alberto Hurtado University in Chile. She has a PhD in Literature from Antioquia University, with a Magna Cum Laude thesis on the Quechua Poetics present in the work of José María Arguedas.  While working on her thesis she went through a beautiful and strong research process at the university led by Professor Vivas Hurtado, and she also did a lot of hard research, thanks to a scholarship, in Germany, at the Freie University in Berlin. She is currently an Instructor of Spanish at Louisiana State University (LSU), in the United States.

Some of her published books are: Under the skin (2007), Lunas de sombra (2010), Towards the Pacific (2015), Cartography of the rain (2016), The well of childhood (2018). Other published works are Women write in Medellín (2017), Colombian poetry of the twentieth century written by women (2014) and Stories that are not stories: experiences of reading and writing in Medellín (2014).  In her latest book, Those Women in Miniature (Pygmalion 2019), she ventures into a prose work with 19 stories of women from her city. In this new book she presents her life experience of what she lived and felt in the ancestral world of the Latin American Andes. Her latest books have been published by Editorial Sial Pigmalión in Spain. His latest book titled Wayrayaripay ( The sound of the wind (20230 has been published in 2023 by Editorial Valparayso NY and is in a trilingual version: English, Quechua, Spanish.

 

Her books have been presented in countries like Spain, France, Colombia, Peru, among others. Her poems have been translated into English, French and Portuguese.
