Specialization
Computational materialsdesign and in-situ dislocation characterization.
Expertise
Data mining, ab initio density functional theory (DFT), molecular dynamics and Monte-Carlosimulation, and thermal dynamics phase diagram calculation based multi-component alloy and ceramic design; validation from materials synthesis, mechanical/electronic/optical property measurement, XRD, SEM/TEM, and in-situ dislocation dynamics (texture) characterization.
Education
PhD in Computational Physics and ECE from University of Missouri-Kansas City (2006).
Research
Our current CIMM supportedincludesthermal dynamics simulationof the defect annealing behavior of additive manufactured alloys and comparative study of the dislocation dynamics of brittle metal such as tungsten (W) and multi-component alloy such as MoNbTaVW under high shear stress through both experiment and simulation work. The nano-scale mechanical, electronic, and optical properties are the focus of this group.
